01. Clarity in Communication
Clarity and ease of communication is essential if a project is to be enjoyable and successful.
Throughout the design process we use a variety of techniques to develop the brief and test ideas with the client team - from hand sketches and card models to interactive CGI BIM environments that can be shared and explored by everyone from client to contractor.
02. Clarity of Design
Quality design is clear, simple and understandable.
Good architecture makes even the most complicated building understandable. We constantly work to refine our buildings and we want to keep getting better, so we take a keen interest in their performance post completion.
We always start with the context.
We do not have a set style or remit that we force onto our clients - our only fixed agenda is good contextual design.
Sustainable buildings are better buildings.
Sustainability should always be more than retrofit solar panels and BREEAM ratings. We take a holistic and integrated approach.
The best is yet to come.
Whether finding ways to develop difficult sites or staying at the cutting edge of Building Information Modelling, exploring new materials and methods of construction or rethinking the old, we want to stay at the forefront and keep getting better.
06. Simple is beautiful.
"Less but better"
We believe in the famous Dieter Rams mantra. Over complication dilutes clarity and often results in lower quality. Simplicity can be hard to achieve but results in buildings that are precise, clean and readable.
07. Robust yet elegant.
Wise material choices and robust and appropriate detailing.
Our buildings are designed to be long lasting and require minimum maintenance. These details and selected materials must always help drive up quality and give an aesthetic of refinement and precision.
08. Human Interaction
Architecture is all about the people who use it.
Delight in spaces, play of light and shade, expressiveness of mood and feel, careful introduction of sunlight and ventilation form the creative composition of buildings that are adaptive and durable, but above all enhance the lives of those who use them.
