Ivy Cottage is an eclectic mix of new and old, vernacular and modern.
The extension to a two up two down traditional cottage provides a new entrance approach to the house, entering
directly into a lobby space with cloaks and toilet. A new staircase was inserted between the new and old to create an
open plan, double height space leading to the open plan lounge at first floor. The kitchen and dining space were created
out of the ground floor of the original cottage.
From the road the new-build element reflects the appearance of a traditional attached barn, using coursed stone and a
stone flagged roof, common within the Yorkshire moors. Strategic placement of windows provides glimpses out of the
building to spectacular views across the landscape.
