Wolverhamption Interchange

Competitive submission to develop the outline briefing document issued by the Local Authority and their strategic partners. Our development proposals knitted together a number of disparate elements of the urban grain, focusing on a new transportation hub linking pedestrian, car, rail and metro routes in a new public square.

The development opportunities set within the Master Plan and surrounding the public spaces, places and routes were a new rail station, retail and leisure uses with commercial and residential, hotel and leisure uses at upper level. Our master plan proposals provided a series of linked squares and street settings. The primary square focused on the routes from and to a new Rail Station, supplemented with retail units and direct links to the car parking and the metro station. Further links connected entertainment zones stepping down to and utilising the canal-side setting. The development sites comprised a mixture of retail and entertainment at ground level with hotel, office, residential and leisure at the upper levels.
