Kirkdale
Community Fire Station

Kirkdale Community Fire Station, built for Merseyside Fire Authority was built as part of the North West Fire and Rescue Service PFI, a project delivering sixteen new community fire stations across nine Local Authorities, involving three separate Fire Services: Lancashire, Cumbria and Merseyside. This was the biggest project of its type in the country.

The buildings include 3 appliance bays, 2 auxilliary and 10 pod garages to house specialist pod units and prime movers. The palette of materials, consistent and unifying across the stations is black and white brickwork set as a backdrop to vibrant red steel cladding and black steel to the appliance bays.
