The two key drivers for the interior design of Christ Church Primary School are the connection with the mature external environment and outdoor play and secondly to give each class-base a playful individual identity.
The circular form of the building and classroom numbers lent strongly towards the use of a rainbow of colours, that develops as you move from space to space around the curvature of the building. Colours were reflected in the furniture, film manifestation on classroom glazed screens, set against a neutral white interior. The rainbow colours were also used for way-finding where the colours were painted on the curved walls and terminated in a flower symbol specific to each classroom.
Bright vibrant colours were carefully selected, with rubber flooring and carpet the predominant flooring materials. External brick paviors were carried through as an internal finish within the main school reception and a leaf motif used for external glazing manifestation.
