Working with Telford & Wrekin Council, the Academy and Kier, the practice produced the way-finding and signage strategy, interior graphic designs, interior colour schemes and material choices as well as the fixed and loose furniture scheduling for the 900 place new-build Academy.
The teaching wing is designed as a series of cellular and sub-dividable spaces with break-out and open plan teaching spaces over two floors. The plan is also defined by large openings to bring light down onto ground. Thus volume, light and space influenced the interior design choices.
Chosen colour themes; agreed in staff and student workshops, were subject related where legacy furniture also influenced colour choices, such as red for sports, green for science, b&w piano keyboard design flooring pattern in music, graphic film including a skeleton and periodic tables in science, furniture layouts include open plan demo space and super lab for science.
