Ravenor is a 2FE community primary school with 26 place nursery. The new school was developed around and built during the occupation of the predecessor building in a live school environment.
The schools aim is to develop each childs full potential and recognise the importance of working closely with parents and carers and offering a broad and balanced education based on the National Curriculum which promotes high levels of achievement. Having opened in 2004 with excellent new school facilities, the school has been future-proofed and offers a high quality, modern, pleasant and safe environment for children to enjoy learning. The aim for the school is to identify pupil needs at an early stage / age and allocate appropriate support, planned in partnership with parents whilst working closely with outside agencies to ensure childrens needs are met. The education of pupils with SEN therefore enjoys a high profile and status within the school.
The school is developed over three floors with class bases facing the internal hard and soft play facilities with the support spaces, halls and dining to the south of the building to the learning spaces. Ruislip Road and acting as a noise buffer to the learning spaces. The class bases are arranged in pairs with linked group rooms and wet play rooms. The building form relates to the site context and the facade curved to align with retained Indian Bean trees. The projecting eaves are further articulated with glu-laminted columns which provide a civic quality to the building.
