Set within a semi-urban environment, Gifford Primary is a new build 630-place school with a further 50 FTE nursery school pupils. The school is fully inclusive, housing the central Hearing Impaired Unit for the borough, which is fully integrated with the general school facilities.
The new school was developed around and built during the occupation of the predecessor building in a live school environment.
The school is arranged around the lower and upper schools with a dedicated nursery building, with classbases grouped on the basis of the three form entry. The school is also two storeys with play decks at upper floors to minimise footprint and compacted as a result of the restricted site available for development, and to minimise travel distances.
The school is BREEAM Very Good, passively vented and naturally daylit on a greenfield site.
