At a prominent location on the corner of Westgate Street and Stow Hill in the Central conservation area of Newport, this Grade II Listed Building has been extensively refurbished and extended by Crest Nicholson Properties.
Completed in 2001, the scheme created 5 new retail units and relocated an existing tenant into a refurbished, enlarged unit. One of the new units has been let as a pub/restaurant and has a feature in its entrance hall the retained Jacobethan grand staircase. The scheme provides some 3400sm (36700sf) of purpose designed retail floor space over 3 main levels, with a further 390sm (4200sf) at basement level in selected units.
Externally, the building envelope has been sensitively overhauled with natural slate roof coverings on the principal elevations and specialist cleaning of the natural stone walls. Existing inappropriate doors and windows at street level have been replaced with new in keeping with the original style.
