This city centre site, which is situated between New Street, Corporation Street, Fore Street and Cannon Street contained a number of buildings built in the late 19th Century, the majority of which were occupied until the 1960s by the Birmingham Post and Mail.
Within the site were two Grade 2 Listed Buildings fronting Corporation Street, and the whole of the scheme was within the Colmore Row and its environs Conservation area. Of particular note, was Fletchers Chambers on the corner of Fore Street, which was the first Terracotta building to be built in the City, which though unlisted, has been retained and fully refurbished.
The scheme, which received Planning Approval and Listed Building Consent, involved the complete restoration of the building fabric, to recreate the original design intent. Also the mosaics are relocated within the scheme in appropriate locations as a public display of an important aspect of the past history of the building.
